EdTech Magazine published an article entitled “ Microfiche Was the Dawn of Multimedia Research “. It describes how it is as easy as “hitting Ctrl F” for students to research today and that “[a] millennial college student today might not even know what a microfiche is”. Well, no argument about the millennials. But microfiche is not dead. As the article begrudgingly admits at the end: “..universities remained optimistic about microforms for the purpose of historical archiving, and BU [Boston University] still maintains their microform department today” and “[t]hough not an easy tool for mainstream research, microfiche can have niche uses — Tedium reports of expensive classic comic book archives — among researchers and history buffs.”

Of course, the article was written from the higher education perspective, and academia has a habit of not knowing that there is a world outside of campus. Professors and students like to extrapolate trends on campus to the real world. However, the real world has microfiche in many other niches. State, county, and city governments still use them. Microfiche contain payroll records, student records, building departments, land records, marriage certificates, medical files, court cases, criminal records, genealogy records, newspapers, books, parts manuals, military service records, and many other types of documents.

Heck, even the article stated that Boston University has impossible-to-find material still contained on microfiche: “Ph.D. students use them when they need an obscure journal or archived material”. So what a minute, higher education: do you mean to say that the internet doesn’t have all of the world’s knowledge? Yup, the rest of it is contained on microfiche, microfilm, slides, books, magazines, newspapers, ancient texts, and oral traditions which have no been converted to digital image. The technological hubris never ceases to amaze me.

Granted, many organizations need microfiche converted to PDF or TIFF to allow easy search and online distribution, and many of them still struggle with the old ways and use microfiche reader printers or microfiche viewers. Microfiche is still used in 2018, and for some organizations it is still a convenient way to storing files compared to paper files, as they lacked the ability to convert the paper files to digital images at the beginning. Some organizations have always done it this way, and they can’t or don’t want to change, especially if they have a microfiche backfile. If they were to go a digital route, there are costs involved. Some legal or government agencies still believe that because microfiche has a lifespan of over 100 years that they are more safe than CDs, DVDs, and even digital images. Some researchers are traditionalists who prefer microfiche like that of film photography over digital.

A quitclaim deed transfers interest in real property from one entity (the grantor) to another (the grantee). Unlike most property deeds , quitclaim deeds do not contain a title covenant – thus they offer the grantee no guarantee as to the status of the property’s title. If the grantor does not actually own the property, the grantee may receive no actual interest, and no legal recourse to recover losses. Typically, quitclaim deeds are used between friends or family members. You may need a copy of a quitclaim deed as a grantor or grantee to prove the status of a piece of property. Here are two ways to obtain a copy.

Visit Your County Recorder’s Office

Quitclaim deeds are part of public record. This means anyone who wants a copy can obtain one. One way to get a copy of this type of deed is to visit your local county recorder’s office. If you don’t know where this is, simply Google search “County Clerk” followed by the name of the county where the property exists. The office is typically in a courthouse. The county clerk’s office contains copies of public records such as marriage licenses, birth and death records, and property deeds.

Each county recorder’s office has a different process for searching for deeds. Call ahead and ask about your county’s particular requirements. Some offices may give you this information over the phone, and allow you to request a copy of the quitclaim deed by mail. Others may accept requests online. To search for a quitclaim deed, you’ll need either the last name of the grantor or the grantee.

If you have to go to the county clerk’s office, come prepared with the last name, the property’s address, and the parcel’s identification or tax identification number, if possible. Knowing when the original quitclaim deed was recorded may also help. The more information you have, the easier your county clerk’s office search will be. The clerk will locate the deed in the index (a process that can take hours or even days) and give you a certified copy for a small fee. If you requested a copy via mail, include a check or money order for your copy fee.

Conduct a Free Online Search

Thanks to the digitization of public records, there is now a much easier way to obtain a copy of a quitclaim deed. You no longer have to deal with your county clerk’s office in-person, over the phone, or online. Instead, you can simply Nike HyperChase Mens Basketball Shoes Lt Retro/Black//Hot Lava RKQyigt
With an online search, you don’t have to wait in line to speak to a clerk, or sit in the waiting room while the clerk finds your document. You don’t have to mail in a check or money order for documents mailed to you. The entire process is done online in just minutes, from the comfort of your home.

A free online public records search will give you access to the quitclaim deed you’re looking for if you search for it using the right information. Type in the tax ID, property lot number, or the last name of the grantor or grantee. You can also search for the deed using just the property’s address on certain search forums. Your search will result in a list of all public documents relating to the property, including quitclaim deeds, property ownership, titles, land values, and the history of the property.

An online search can save you time and energy in the process of obtaining a copy of a quitclaim deed. Whether you’re a grantor, a grantee, a real estate agent, or another party, an online records search is the most efficient way to find what you’re seeking. Simply enter a few pieces of information, press “Search,” and get your hands on the exact document you need without delay. Try an online search today, and experience the difference yourself.

The Trump administration's practice of separating children from their parents at the border is not just heartbreaking to other immigrants but also terrifying. Even immigrants who are in the country legally are beginning to worry that their families could be broken apart, too.

The anti-immigrant threats and actions have many Hispanic Americans in particular living on edge.

Tears immediately start streaming down the cheeks of Sarah, a Mexican immigrant, when she is asked about watching recent news stories on TV.

In imposing tariffs on $34 billion worth of Chinese imports that took effect Friday, the Trump administration says it is hoping to strike a blow against long-standing abusive trade practices by the Beijing government.

But for now, the blows are threatening to land hardest on non-Chinese companies like New Jersey-based Snow Joe/Sun Joe.

Fleeing war, more than 500 Yemenis arrived earlier this year in an unlikely place — a tiny South Korean resort island. They're hoping to be granted asylum so they can stay in South Korea, but as they wait on the island of Jeju, they've become the target of blistering backlash from South Koreans.

"I love Korea, really," Ebrahim Qaid says. He is one of 561 Yemenis who arrived on Jeju earlier this year through the island's policy of allowing most foreign nationals to enter without getting a visa in advance.

It was 1968. But playwright Mart Crowley felt he had to write what he knew.

"Nobody wanted the play," Crowley says. "Not even agents wanted to look at this play. They just thought it was pornographic and it was outrageous."

What he wrote in was a thinly veiled slice of autobiographical fiction. A group of gay friends gather for a raucous birthday party; by the end of the evening, secrets are spilled, tears are shed.

Ask most domestic footballers about their ultimate ambition, and they will predictably tell you it is to play professional football outside Malawi. Well, as per Fifa statutes, most local footballers are professionals for they earn a living from football. Get that? You do not need to play in South Africa to earn such a status.

However, the issue is whether domestic footballers are professionals in this case. It is for this reason that some argue, out of Fifa script, which only recognises either amateurs or professionals, that locals are semi-professionals.

Seemingly negligible things distinguish amateur footballers from professionals. While in Malawi we stand on a higher moral ground and condemn footballers for drinking, most professionals in Europe love their pint of Tutankhamun Ale, Stella, Sink the Bismarck, Utopias and Schorschbock.

For example, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique’s code of conduct only states that (i) alcohol is prohibited during meals (ii) players must be home by midnight in the 48 hours before a game.

The difference is that professionals drink in moderation, whereas amateurs indulge in binge drinking.

Professionals need no reminders about going to the gym every day when off-season, whereas amateurs switch off from physical activity.

Amateurs do not mind their weight, but in professional football, managers give each player a weight limit and failure to maintain leads to heavy fines. Failure to maintain a healthy waist-line cost Benni McCarthy a career at West Ham.

In fact, while in Malawi sense, discipline borders on the obvious such as not boozing, in the professional world even being overweight is indiscipline.

Perhaps the most defining mark of professionals is that they are not obliged to demand anything outside their contracts. If Chelsea win the Barclays English Premier League championship Diego Costa will not ask for a share of the prize money. Winning championships is part of job description.

The other side of the argument is that domestic football clubs are also amateurish as they do not respect players’ contracts while some do not put players on contracts.

Such kind of free-for-all set up explains players’ demands for their cuts from prize money. Teams cannot develop if they spend K50 million in a year and yet share K9 million earned from prize money. Hand-to-mouth will not take the domestic game forward.
